Definitions
Terms used in our reports
- Return
- Change in account value over the period, after the fees stated in the report, divided by the defined starting capital (the ROI denominator).
- Pip
- The standard unit of price movement for an instrument. For most currency pairs it is the fourth decimal place; for gold it is defined per report.
- R-multiple
- Profit or loss on a trade divided by the amount risked to the stop. A trade that makes twice its risk is +2R.
- Win rate
- Winning trades divided by all closed trades in the period. Breakeven trades are reported separately.
- Breakeven
- A trade closed at or within costs of its entry price, usually after the stop was moved to entry.
- Maximum drawdown
- The largest peak-to-trough fall in account equity during the period, as a percentage of the peak.
- Floating drawdown
- The unrealised loss on open positions at a given moment, before those positions are closed.
